Visiting Masjid an-Nabawi ﷺ in Madinah and offering Salam upon the beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is a deeply meaningful experience for every pilgrim. Women are also honoured with the opportunity to send Salam upon the Prophet ﷺ and his noble companions, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr al-Siddiq رضي الله عنه and Sayyiduna Umar ibn al-Khattab رضي الله عنه.
For women, access arrangements and visiting times may differ from those for men. Understanding the procedures before arriving can make your visit more organised, peaceful and spiritually fulfilling.

Offering Salam: Women’s Visiting Times
Women may be permitted to access the designated area for offering Salam during specific periods.
Morning Visit
- Entry Doors: Door 2, 21 or 32
- Entry: After Fajr until approximately 9:00 AM
- Permitted Stay: Until approximately 11:30 AM
- Fridays: Not available
Evening Visit
- Entry Doors: Door 2, 21 or 32
- Entry: After Isha until approximately 10:00 PM
- Permitted Stay: Until approximately 11:30 PM
- Fridays: Not available
Note
Offering Salam does not require a Nusuk permit.
However, access arrangements can change according to crowd levels, security requirements and instructions issued by the authorities.
The Virtue of Sending Salam
Sending Salam and Salawat upon the Prophet ﷺ is an expression of love, respect and devotion.
1. The Prophet ﷺ Receives Our Salam
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“There is no one who sends salam upon me, except that Allah returns my soul to me so that I may reply to his salam.”
Abu Dawud 2041
2. Allah Sends Blessings Upon Those Who Send Salawat
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Whoever sends one salah upon me, Allah sends ten upon him.”
Sahih Muslim 408
3. A Means of Nearness to the Prophet ﷺ
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“The closest of people to me on the Day of Judgement will be those who send the most blessings upon me.”

Salam and Riyadh al-Jannah: Know the Difference
