Frequently Asked Questions.

The South African Hajj and Umrah Council (SAHUC) registration fee is R309 for individuals and R618 per couple, This fee is non-refundable and is required for registration on the SAHUC waiting list. Once a pilgrim is accredited and accepted, an additional fee of R2030 is payable.

 

A person holding a South African ID document or South African Permanent Residence Permit may lodge an application for Hajj, at any age, but will only be eligible for accreditation once the applicant has/will have reached the age of 18 years old.

  • All Hujjaaj who performed hajj within the last five years can apply, but will be scored accordingly.
  • The Saudi Arabian authorities discourage persons who have been in the past five years to come for Hajj.
  • Due to scarcity of quota, first time Pilgrims and repeat males serving as Mahram to first time female members will be queued for accreditation on an application date and time priority.
  • Once we can reduce the large backlog which is currently just over 40,000 people, we will consider repeat pilgrims.
  • A Non-Refundable Registration Fee must be paid using the online payment gateway on the SAHUC website.
  • The application fee is applicable to the current year of application.
  • Payments must be done immediately on the payment portal.
  • Registration of the application will only take effect once the payment for registration is completed successfully.
  • NB: The responsibility is upon the applicant to ensure that the application together with payment is completed in full.

APPLICATION REFERENCE NUMBER

  • Once Registration and payment is completed, the applicant will receive communication via Email and SMS with Registration Confirmation + Application Reference Number and Login Details
  • The Reference Number starts with the prefix ZAF.
    Example: ZAF123456789

  • Accreditation only takes place once SAHUC signs the Service Level Agreement between SAHUC and the Ministry of Hajj & Umrah with the allocated quota and Hajj fees for the upcoming Hajj season.
  • Hajjis will be accredited after SAHUC announces the cut-off date and time for applications.
  • Successful applicants will be notified by SMS and the names of the accredited Hujjaaj will be placed on the SAHUC Hajj website.
  • Once you are Accredited, you are required to pay the Accreditation Fee stipulated for the respective year using the online payment gateway on the SAHUC website.
  • You will only be able to choose your selected agent once SAHUC receives the Hajj service fee in the specified time.
